MATTERPORT3D NETWORK
Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-10-05 · Version 1
1. Scope and contact
This Privacy Policy explains how the business operating Matterport3D.net ("Matterport3D," "we," "us") handles personal information for the operator network, directory, project requests and related support. Contact office@matterport3d.net with "Privacy request" in the subject line to ask questions or exercise available rights. The effective date and version appear above. A separately identified Operator or external service may have its own privacy responsibilities and policy.
2. Information we collect and its sources
We receive information you provide in forms, your account, messages and support requests, information Operators provide in responses, and activity generated when people use the service.
- Contact and account information: names, email addresses, optional phone numbers, business and website details, account identifiers, password hashes and account roles.
- Operator profile information: business descriptions, service areas and ZIP codes, service capabilities, and information submitted to support approval or resolve a complaint.
- Project information: property address and ZIP, property type and size, timing, requested services and precision, free-text descriptions, operator proposals, selection and coordination history. A property address or free-text description may reveal private information, even when a name is omitted.
- Communications and preferences: inquiries, replies, support correspondence, legal acceptance versions, withdrawal requests, administrative notes and relevant consent or choice records.
- Technical and security information: IP address, browser/device or request information available in server logs, timestamps, authentication and essential session identifiers, request and delivery records, rate-limiting information and security or administrative audit events.
Please provide only what is needed. Do not place access codes, identity documents, financial details, health information or unnecessary information about occupants in project text. If sensitive access information is needed, arrange an appropriate secure channel directly with the selected Operator. The Network quote and application forms do not ask for a payment card. If paid services are introduced, the applicable payment provider and collection notice will be identified before payment information is requested.
3. Why we use information
We use information to create and protect accounts, review and display Operator listings, determine coverage and service matches, distribute requests, communicate proposals, record a Customer's choice, coordinate support, manage website-service inquiries, prevent fraud and abuse, resolve disputes, maintain records of agreed terms, and comply with legal obligations. We also use limited aggregate coverage information to show the size of the network. Account and project notices are service communications; submitting a project does not subscribe you to unrelated marketing.
We do not make decisions producing legal or similarly significant effects solely by automated profiling. ZIP, property-type and service matching identifies potentially suitable Operators; a Customer chooses the Operator, and the parties confirm the project. We do not guarantee that a match can perform the requested work.
4. Who receives information
- Matching Operators: when you submit a request, eligible Operators receive its ZIP, property type, requested services and scope details, size, timing and requested precision so they can respond. Name, contact fields and street address are withheld from the standard preselection opportunity view, but details you put in free text are visible to those Operators. An administrator may also invite an approved Operator to assess travel or an unusual project.
- Your selected Operator: after you choose an Operator, its business receives your contact details, property address and project scope to arrange the work. It is responsible for its own later processing and professional records. Contact that business as well about information it holds independently.
- The public: approved Operator business names, descriptions, region, website, offered services and stated coverage are displayed in the directory. Do not use a public business profile for private information you do not want published.
- Authorized staff and service providers: personnel administering the network and providers supporting hosting, application/workspace infrastructure, email delivery, security and maintenance may process information to supply those functions. The network uses connected account and workspace infrastructure, and the managed regional sites contribute inquiries to a shared administrative inbox. Independent businesses do not receive unrestricted access to each other's accounts or the administrative inbox.
- Legal and business events: we may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law or valid legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate misuse or handle a dispute. If a reorganization, sale or transfer affects this service, relevant information may be transferred with appropriate safeguards and notices required by law.
Operators must use information received through the network for the requested services and protect it, rather than sell it, harvest it for unrelated marketing or disclose it unnecessarily. We cannot guarantee how an independent Operator will act; report suspected misuse to office@matterport3d.net.
5. Cookies, maps and external sites
We use essential session cookies and related security mechanisms to support sign-in, protect forms and preserve authorized access. The current network pages do not include advertising pixels or cross-site behavioral advertising tools. Browser cookie controls are available, but blocking essential cookies can prevent sign-in or form submission.
The map requests tiles from OpenStreetMap's tile service, which receives your IP address and map-tile requests when the map loads. Census boundary data and GeoNames postal location data support coverage displays. The browser does not send your form's contact details to the map provider as part of tile loading. Third-party map services and websites reached through links may collect technical information under their own policies. Visit https://osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy for the map provider's notice. We do not control external websites, their cookies or their later use of information.
Browser "Do Not Track" signals do not change our essential session and security processing; we do not use the current network pages to track people across unrelated sites for behavioral advertising. The service currently has no sale or cross-context behavioral advertising activity for a Global Privacy Control signal to disable. We will honor legally applicable opt-out preference signals if such processing is introduced; this statement does not authorize introducing it without the notices and choices required by law.
6. Sale, sharing and possible future paid services
Currently, we do not sell personal information for money or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. The Customer-directed project disclosures described above are part of obtaining requested services. We do not charge Operators for current directory presence or request distribution.
Future fees for catalog placement or lead distribution do not automatically permit new uses or disclosures of personal information. Before launching any paid-lead or other practice that changes our privacy obligations, we will reassess it, update the relevant notices, and implement any legally required consent, opt-out mechanisms and contracts. Acceptance of the Terms is not advance consent to a future sale of personal information or unrelated advertising. Contact us now if you wish to stop further distribution of an unassigned request; information already received by an Operator cannot necessarily be recalled.
7. Retention and security
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including active accounts and projects, support and disputes, preventing repeat abuse, documenting agreements, and applicable legal, tax or accounting obligations. Retention depends on the type of record, project status, the last relevant activity, legal duties and any dispute or preservation requirement. We do not promise that withdrawal immediately deletes every record. Where possible, we delete or deidentify information no longer needed; backups and legally retained records may remain for a limited additional period consistent with their purpose.
We use access controls, protected authentication, transport security and other reasonable safeguards. No service or transmission is completely secure. Protect account credentials and access links, avoid unnecessary sensitive information in forms, and notify us promptly of suspected unauthorized access. Some infrastructure and providers may process information in the United States or other countries where they operate; applicable privacy and disclosure rules may differ. We will comply with any transfer safeguards required for our processing.
8. Your choices and privacy requests
Contact office@matterport3d.net with "Privacy request" in the subject line to request access, correction, a copy or deletion of information, closure of a project or account, or an explanation of our practices. Include the email associated with the record and enough detail to identify your request, but do not email passwords or sensitive identification documents. We may ask for proportionate verification or proof of an authorized agent's authority. You do not need to create an account to submit a privacy request.
We will respond within applicable legal deadlines and explain any lawful limitation or refusal. Where California CCPA rights apply to you and to our business, they may include knowing/accessing information, correction, deletion, opting out of a sale or covered sharing, limiting certain uses of sensitive information, and nondiscrimination for exercising those rights. Other applicable laws may provide portability, objection, restriction or appeal rights. Contact us to appeal a refusal where an appeal right applies, and you may contact the appropriate regulator. These statements do not assume every law applies to every person or this business, and do not reduce rights you have under law.
We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics for advertising. We may retain information permitted or required by law, including to complete a requested transaction, secure the service, maintain required records or defend a claim. We explain relevant exceptions when responding. Deleting essential account or project information may prevent us from supplying the related service, but we do not penalize people for making a lawful privacy request.
An Operator's account owner may leave through "Leave the network" in the dashboard or by emailing us. This removes the Network listing and new-request eligibility, not every business or Customer record. Managed hosting and other separately purchased services must be addressed separately. Contact an independent Operator directly for information held under its own project agreement; we will reasonably assist with identifying the appropriate contact.
9. Children
The service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Do not submit children's personal information in project forms or images. If you believe a child has provided information to the Network, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
10. Changes to this policy
We will post revisions with their effective date and keep prior published versions available. For material changes we will provide a prominent site or dashboard notice and, where appropriate or required, direct notice or additional consent before applying a new use. A new policy does not retroactively authorize a materially different use where further notice or permission is legally required. Contact office@matterport3d.net for privacy questions or a copy of a prior notice.
